Aledo Obliterates Richland to Stay Perfect at 8-0
RICHARDSON Another week, another clinic from Aledo. The Bearcats rolled into Thursday night’s matchup against Richland and turned it into a statement game, torching the Royals 72-10 to extend their unbeaten run to eight straight.
It wasn’t just a win it was dominance in every phase.
Tubbs Turns It Up
Quarterback Lincoln Tubbs was unstoppable. The senior lit up the scoreboard with a career-best 270 yards passing and four touchdowns, completing just 19 attempts to do it. As if that wasn’t enough, he carved up the defense on the ground too 138 rushing yards and a fifth score on only 12 carries.
Every snap felt like a highlight reel waiting to happen.
Running mate Kaden Winkfield joined the fun, powering through for 85 yards and two touchdowns as Aledo’s ground attack averaged a monstrous 8.3 yards per carry.
Defense Locks Down
Richland, meanwhile, found no rhythm against an Aledo defense that came in with bad intentions. The Royals mustered just 3.2 yards per rush, and their passing game never stood a chance.
The Bearcats’ secondary turned the night into a turnover party, coming away with three interceptions one each from Kaeden Weaver, Ryland Haley, and Alex Patton, who returned his pick all the way for a touchdown.
Cole Cox anchored a front that smothered the run and kept Richland’s quarterback under constant duress.
Royal Resistance
Even in defeat, Richland had a bright spot. Jayshon Gibson made the most of limited touches, breaking off 80 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, while adding 38 yards through the air. But the Royals’ offense which had been rolling most of the year hit a wall against the Bearcats’ speed and pressure.
The loss drops Richland to 6-3, their lowest point total of the season.
Looking Ahead
Aledo’s machine keeps rolling, now 8-0 and looking every bit the title contender. They’ll host Azle next Thursday at 7 p.m. as they aim to make it nine straight.
Richland will get their own shot at Azle a week later, traveling to face the Hornets on November 7.
If Aledo plays with the same fire they showed Thursday night, the Hornets and the rest of District 3-5A have reason to be on high alert.
