Celina rolled into Waco Friday night and walked away with a familiar result: another win. The Bobcats stretched their win streak to 17 straight with a commanding 50-28 victory over Bellville in the season opener.
For the Brahmas, it was déjà vu. Last August, Celina handed them a loss to start the year, and the rematch followed the same script.
The Bobcats’ offense was relentless, mixing tempo and balance to pile up points in bunches. By the time Bellville found any traction, Celina’s lead was too heavy to overcome.
Still, one Brahma stood tall. Quarterback Knox Bauerschlag gave his team every chance to hang around, completing 12 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. His efficiency kept the Brahmas from fading entirely, but it wasn’t enough to slow the Bobcats’ surge.
The defeat drops Bellville to 0-1, but a bounce-back opportunity awaits. The Brahmas travel to face Stafford next Friday at 7:30 p.m., a matchup where they’ll carry a clear rankings advantage (No. 80 vs. No. 359 in the MaxPreps poll).
Celina, meanwhile, shows no signs of slowing down. The Bobcats, eyeing another deep playoff push, take their 1-0 record into a clash with La Vega next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
One thing’s certain: Celina looks every bit as dangerous as it did last fall, and for Bellville, the road to redemption starts next week.
