Dragons Torch Byron Nelson in 52-3 Blowout
SOUTHLAKE — There was no suspense in this one. Southlake Carroll flexed its muscle on Friday night, storming past Byron Nelson 52-3 and keeping its perfect record intact.
The Dragons (3-0) were firing on all cylinders, putting up 38 points by halftime and coasting the rest of the way.
Renda in Command
Quarterback Angelo Renda put on a clinic, carving up the Bobcats’ defense with 288 passing yards and three touchdowns while completing nearly 80% of his throws. He even added a rushing score for good measure.
Wideout Brock Boyd turned in a big night as well, hauling in 93 yards through the air and finding the end zone twice.
Defense Shuts the Door
Carroll’s defense made sure Byron Nelson never found a rhythm. The Bobcats managed just 0.8 yards per carry, getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage time and time again. Crawford Taylor anchored the effort with six tackles, two for loss, and a sack.
Byron Nelson’s Bright Spot
Despite the lopsided score, Parker Almanza connected with Macavion Hill for 67 of his 102 passing yards, giving the home crowd a brief spark before the Dragons slammed the door shut.
