Renda, Dragons Stay Red-Hot as Southlake Carroll Rolls Past Keller
SOUTHLAKE, TX – Another Friday night, another dominant showing from Southlake Carroll. The Dragons kept their perfect season alive with a 63-28 rout of Keller, extending their winning streak to six straight and once again proving why they’re one of Texas’ most explosive teams.
Carroll didn’t just win they overwhelmed. Every game this season has ended in a runaway, and this one was no different. From the opening drive, the Dragons’ offense looked unstoppable, moving at will and piling up big plays in bunches.
Renda on Fire
Quarterback Angelo Renda delivered another masterclass under center. The senior carved up Keller’s defense for 401 yards and five touchdown passes, completing a sharp 80.8% of his throws and adding another score with his legs. Through six games, he’s averaging just over 300 yards passing per night elite company by any standard.
Renda’s favorite target, Blake Gunter, was nearly unguardable, torching defenders for 191 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The duo’s chemistry has been one of the keys to Carroll’s offensive rhythm all season.
Defense Brings the Pressure
While the offense stole the show, the Dragon defense made sure Keller never found a foothold. Carroll’s front seven lived in the backfield, recording six sacks one apiece from six different players and forcing a critical turnover that changed momentum.
The highlight came when Caden Mackey scooped up a loose ball and raced it back for a touchdown, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Keller Shows Fight Despite the Score
To their credit, Keller had flashes of firepower. Quarterback Brock Burkett threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns, adding 34 rushing yards of his own. Wideout Brock Meek gave the Dragons fits with 109 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to slow down Carroll’s relentless attack.
The loss dropped Keller to 3-3, continuing a rough stretch in their rivalry the Indians have now lost eight straight to Southlake Carroll.
Looking Ahead
The Dragons (6-0) hit the road Thursday to face V.R. Eaton, a squad that’s quietly heating up on offense with 30-plus points in three straight games. Keller (3-3) will regroup at home against Byron Nelson in another key district clash.
For now, though, Southlake Carroll remains untouchable a juggernaut firing on all cylinders and showing no signs of slowing down.
