Waxahachie suffered a tough loss on Friday, falling 41-17 to the Duncanville Panthers in what turned out to be their biggest defeat since October 6, 2023. The Indians have now dropped four consecutive games against Duncanville, continuing a challenging trend in this matchup.
Despite the defeat, Waxahachie managed to find the end zone with contributions from Wade Lemons and Nolan Barnard. However, it wasn’t enough to keep up with Duncanville’s high-powered offense, which proved to be the decisive factor in the game.
Duncanville’s standout quarterback, Keelon Russell, delivered a phenomenal performance, throwing for 351 yards and six touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. He also contributed 39 rushing yards, making him a dual-threat on the field.
The loss ended Waxahachie’s six-game away winning streak, dropping them to a 2-2 record. Meanwhile, Duncanville extended their impressive winning streak to 10 games, improving to 3-0 for the season. The Panthers, who continue to climb the national high school football rankings, demonstrated why they remain one of the top teams in the country.
Overall, Duncanville’s offense dominated, racking up 496 total yards compared to Waxahachie’s 292. Wide receiver Dakorien Moore led the way for the Panthers with 147 yards and three touchdowns, while Zach Turner added 93 yards and two touchdowns, and Trenton Yancey contributed 76 yards and a score. Running back JaQualon Armstrong was the team’s leading rusher with 67 yards, while Russell’s 39 rushing yards placed him as the second leading rusher for Duncanville.
Despite their dominant performance, Duncanville struggled with discipline, accumulating 13 penalties for 125 yards. This is an area they’ll need to clean up as they prepare to face Skyline, a team that has allowed just 17.2 points per game this season. Waxahachie, on the other hand, will look to rebound as they host DeSoto, aiming to bounce back after this tough outing against the Panthers.
