King Survives a Thriller, Outlasts Summer Creek to Keep Playoff Push Rolling
When the postseason spotlight hit, King delivered again. In a tense, back-and-forth battle that came down to the final minutes, the Panthers found just enough separation to slip past Summer Creek 24 to 21, stretching their win streak to five and continuing a late-season surge that shows no signs of slowing.
Sims Steals the Show
If there was one force Summer Creek never solved, it was Dionne Sims. King’s workhorse back turned the night into his personal showcase, slicing through defenders for 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Every time the Bulldogs threatened to grab momentum, Sims answered with another bruising run or game-changing burst. It was his best output since September, and it came when King needed it most.
And he wasn’t alone. The Panthers controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish, pounding out 252 total rushing yards. It marked their fifth straight game clearing the 220-yard barrier on the ground — a trend that has fueled their postseason march.
Defense Turns Up the Heat
While the offense set the tone, King’s defense ensured the lead never slipped away. The Panthers swarmed Summer Creek’s backfield, racking up eight sacks and collapsing the pocket at every opportunity.
Dominick Toulon and Omarion Smith led the charge, combining for four sacks and repeatedly blowing up drives before they could develop. Toulon continued his tackling streak as well, now logging at least five stops in eight straight outings. Damian Broussard added another disruptive night with a sack and nine tackles, helping King withstand Summer Creek’s late push.
Bulldogs Battle Behind Spinks and Jones
Summer Creek didn’t go quietly. Quarterback Noah Spinks aired it out for 275 yards and two touchdowns, leaning heavily on standout receiver Jamicah Jones, who posted 147 yards and found the end zone yet again. Their connection kept the Bulldogs within striking distance deep into the fourth quarter.
But in a game defined by pressure moments, King’s defense delivered the final stand.
Looking Ahead
King improves to 12 and 2 as they roll into the next round, while Summer Creek’s season ends at 12 and 2 after a seven-game win streak comes to a close.
The Panthers now turn their focus to Saturday’s showdown with Vandegrift at 6:30 p.m. The Vipers boast one of the stingiest defenses in the state, allowing just under 14 points per game. King’s ground-and-pound attack will need to be at its absolute best to keep the postseason dream alive.
