Panthers Dominate: Ridge Point Handles Bridgeland in Statement Win
MISSOURI CITY — Two undefeated teams walked into Buddy Echols Field on Thursday night. Only one walked out unscathed. Fort Bend Ridge Point flexed its muscle from start to finish in a 31-3 dismantling of Cypress Bridgeland, moving to 3-0 on the young season.
Fast Start, Big Finish
The Panthers wasted little time establishing control. After both squads traded punts to open the game, Ridge Point quarterback Romin Seymour found DJ Darling in the end zone for a 15-yard strike, giving the home side a 7-0 cushion late in the first quarter.
Momentum only built from there. A crisp drive capped by Nolan Revere’s 24-yard field goal stretched the lead to double digits early in the second. Just before halftime, Aiden Akins leapt over the goal line to make it 17-0, punctuating a first half where Ridge Point’s defense smothered Bridgeland at every turn.
The Bears finally scratched the scoreboard on the final snap before intermission with a 35-yard field goal from Grayson Geisler, but at 17-3 the damage was already done.
Defense Sets the Tone
Bridgeland’s best chance came midway through the third quarter when a long drive stalled deep in Panther territory. Twice, touchdown runs by Kash Schwab were wiped out by holding penalties, and when the Bears faced fourth down inside the 10, Ridge Point’s defense shut the door.
From there, the Panthers poured it on. Jordan Mitchell’s interception set up a quick Seymour-to-Darling connection for a dazzling 20-yard touchdown. Minutes later, Seymour struck again, this time hitting John Rangel on a 29-yard dart to push the score to 31-3 and put the game away.
