Forney Outlasts Rockwall-Heath in Statement Victory
FORNEY — In a clash of Texas powerhouses Thursday night, the Forney Jackrabbits showed once again why they belong among the state’s elite, knocking off the Rockwall-Heath Hawks 42-28 in a high-octane matchup that lived up to the hype. The win marked Forney’s second straight victory over the Hawks, solidifying their status as one of the top programs in Class 6A.
Peterson Shines in Dual-Threat Display
Quarterback Nelson Peterson Jr. put on a show, carving up Heath’s defense with his arm and legs. The junior accounted for 302 total yards and three touchdowns, throwing for 207 yards and one score while adding 95 yards and two rushing touchdowns on just seven carries. The performance marked a career-high in rushing for Peterson, who displayed both poise and explosiveness every time the ball was in his hands.
Wideout Javian Osborne added to the fireworks, crossing the goal line three times to keep the Hawks’ defense reeling. His timely scores provided the spark Forney needed each time Heath threatened to close the gap.
Jackrabbits Keep Rolling at Home
The win was Forney’s fifth straight at home dating back to last season, a stretch in which they’ve averaged over 41 points per game. The Jackrabbits’ balanced offense and improving defense have made them a nightmare for visiting teams, and Thursday was no exception.
Forney’s record now sits at 8-2, a mark that reflects the team’s consistent ability to dominate in big moments. Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath fell to 7-3, snapping a run of strong form that had positioned them as one of the toughest squads in the region.
What’s Next
With the regular season now complete, both programs await their postseason matchups. Forney enters the playoffs riding a wave of confidence, while Rockwall-Heath will look to regroup and find answers before bracket play begins.
If Thursday’s performance was any indication, Forney’s offense looks built to make some serious noise in November.
