Maximus the Great Lives Up to His Name as Duncanville Rolls Past DeSoto

Big names, bright lights, and plenty of fireworks Duncanville vs. DeSoto never disappoints.
And on Friday night, it was Maximus The Great Denson who owned the stage.

The junior quarterback, living up to that bold name on his jersey, carved up DeSoto’s defense for 350 yards and seven touchdowns, delivering a signature performance in Duncanville’s 48-28 statement win.

The Panthers (3-1) turned a tense rivalry into a showcase of offensive precision, balancing speed, swagger, and a quarterback who looked anything but inexperienced.

How It Unfolded

DeSoto struck first blood behind the dynamic SaRod Baker, who moonlighted between quarterback and running back duties all night. His early touchdown run gave the Eagles brief momentum, but Duncanville’s offense quickly flipped the script.

Denson found Emmanuel Ellison for a 22-yard score to cap a 75-yard drive, then connected with Ayson Theus before the end of the first quarter to make it 14–6. From there, it was all Panthers.

DeSoto tried to answer, but penalties proved costly two touchdowns were erased, both coming on big plays from 4-star wideout Ethan “Boobie” Feaster.

By halftime, Denson had already tossed four touchdowns, including a pair to Trenton Yancey and another to Theus, putting Duncanville ahead 28-20.

Then came the knockout punches.

Second-Half Statement

Duncanville opened the third quarter with another touchdown strike – Denson to Zachery Turner – before going deep to Ellison for a 50-yard bomb that broke the game wide open.

DeSoto’s defense simply had no answers.

By the time Denson hit Yancey again early in the fourth, his total was up to seven touchdown passes – each to a different section of the field, each delivered with veteran composure.

DeSoto rallied late behind Baker’s 20-yard rushing score and a two-point conversion from Xavier Davis, but the hole was too deep.

Star Power Everywhere

If this matchup felt like a college recruiting expo, that’s because it basically was.

  • Duncanville rolled out a roster loaded with blue-chip talent – Yancey (4⭐ WR, 247 yards this year), Theus (TCU commit), Turner (SMU), and Braylon Edwards (SMU, No. 2 CB in Texas). Up front, Aiden Williams and Janero Welch both underclassmen with SEC and Big 12 offers dominated the trenches.

  • DeSoto countered with its own star-studded lineup. Feaster (USC commit, reclassified senior) showcased elite hands and next-level speed with 8 receptions for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. K’Adrian Redmond (Texas Tech commit) anchored the defensive front, while Baker continued his breakout season with over 1,100 total yards and 13 touchdowns through six games.

Both sides looked the part but Duncanville’s execution set them apart.

Series Snapshot

DeSoto may hold the all-time edge (11-7 since 2004), but Duncanville has now won six of the last seven meetings each time with a new generation of stars shining under the Friday night lights.
