Lone Star Rolls Past Wakeland to Stay Perfect at 8–0
FRISCO The Lone Star Rangers keep steamrolling through opponents, and Friday night was no different. Behind another dominant display on both sides of the ball, the Rangers cruised past Wakeland 34-13 to stay unbeaten and extend their win streak to eight straight.
This wasn’t just another victory it was another blowout. Every Lone Star win this season has come by at least 20 points, and the Rangers made sure that streak stayed alive.
Hoyt and Wright Lead the Charge
Quarterback Rece Hoyt and running back Trey Wright were in perfect sync all night, carving up Wakeland’s defense with rhythm and precision. Hoyt accounted for 160 total yards and two touchdowns, while Wright was electric out of the backfield, tallying 120 yards and a score on just ten carries.
The two set the tone early, combining for chunk plays that kept Lone Star’s offense humming and the Wolverines on their heels.
Ground Game Dominance
Lone Star didn’t just win they imposed their will. The Rangers racked up 270 rushing yards, punishing Wakeland’s front from the first series to the final whistle. It marked the eighth straight game the Rangers have eclipsed 160 rushing yards, a testament to their power and consistency up front.
Defense Sets the Tone
While the offense piled up yards, the Ranger defense made life miserable for Wakeland’s backfield. Lone Star notched four sacks, with Marcel Dominguez leading the charge with two of his own. Linebacker Nico Viveros was everywhere recording 12 tackles, including two for loss, as the defense clamped down when it mattered most.
Wakeland’s First Setback
For the first time this year, Wakeland (8-1) found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard. Their usually high-powered offense couldn’t get rolling, managing their lowest point total of the season.
Still, Braxton Cole gave the Wolverines something to build on, rushing for 121 yards and a touchdown, while Grayson Myer showcased his hands with 100 receiving yards in the loss.
Looking Ahead
The road doesn’t get any easier for either squad. Lone Star (8-0) will look to keep their perfect season alive when they meet Lebanon Trail on Thursday night a matchup featuring two of the district’s most dynamic quarterbacks, Hoyt and Jordan Jones.
Meanwhile, Wakeland will try to bounce back on Friday when they take on rival Sherman, hoping to regain the spark that carried them through the first half of the season.
