Rockwall-Heath Survives a Thriller, Outlasts North Forney in 56–55 Shootout
If you came for defense, you were in the wrong stadium.
If you came for fireworks Rockwall-Heath and North Forney delivered a full Fourth of July.
In one of the wildest finishes of the season, the Hawks escaped with a 56-55 win Friday night, edging the previously unbeaten Falcons in a heart-pounding slugfest that felt more like a track meet than a football game.
And for Heath, it wasn’t just a win it was payback. The Falcons had stolen one from them last October, 49-42. This time, the Hawks flipped the script and left with the one-point edge.
Bey Goes Off, Again
North Forney’s Legend Bey lived up to his name in defeat. The do-it-all quarterback put on a dazzling solo show, piling up 275 rushing yards and three touchdowns while averaging an eye-popping 14.5 yards per carry. He also threw for 157 yards and another score, including a highlight-reel 67-yard sprint that left defenders frozen in his wake.
Running back Cordai Woodard wasn’t far behind, adding 123 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries. Together, the duo made sure Heath’s defense never had time to breathe.
Hawks Keep Flying High
While Bey’s stat line might grab attention, the night ultimately belonged to Rockwall-Heath a team that just doesn’t know how to lose away from home.
The victory marked the Hawks’ fifth straight road win, dating back to last season, improving their record to 5-1. Over that streak, they’ve averaged nearly 50 points per game, and Friday was no different the offense humming, the scoreboard glowing.
The Fallout
For North Forney (6-1), the loss stings their first of the year but the Falcons proved they can hang with anyone in Class 6A.
For Rockwall-Heath, the message was simple: this team can win anywhere, against anyone, in any kind of game.
What’s Next
The schedule offers no rest for either squad – and a bit of symmetry, too.
Both teams now turn their attention to Royse City.
-
Rockwall-Heath returns home to host the Bulldogs this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
-
North Forney gets their shot a week later, visiting Royse City on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
If this one was any indication, clear your Friday nights these teams don’t play boring football.
