Lake Travis Rallies Late, Defense Delivers in 14-7 Win Over Dripping Springs
In a showdown that lived up to its billing, Lake Travis turned a tense defensive struggle into a statement victory Friday night, edging Dripping Springs 14-7 on the road to remain unbeaten.
Points were at a premium all evening at Tiger Stadium, where both defenses dictated the pace. The Cavaliers’ offense never found much rhythm, managing only 189 total yards, but their defense refused to break. Anchored by Carter Buck, Ben Duncum, and Pierce Atkins, Lake Travis kept the Tigers within striking distance until the final quarter.
Trailing 7-0 heading into the fourth, the Cavaliers finally broke through thanks to a game-changing takeaway. Rover Teddy Lofgren came up with a clutch interception, setting the table for Vann Hopping, who muscled in from short range to tie the game. Moments later, with Dripping Springs driving for a potential answer, linebacker Owen Aird pounced on a fumble to seal the comeback and the win.
The victory pushes Lake Travis to 7-0, keeping their perfect season alive and setting up a high-stakes district collision with archrival Westlake next week.
When offense couldn’t do the job, the Cavaliers’ defense made sure the night still belonged to them.
