
In a decisive Class 4A-II area round showdown at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium, the Caddo Mills football season came to a close as No. 3 Pleasant Grove dominated, securing a resounding 63-10 victory over the Foxes.
Amidst the challenging defeat, Caddo Mills showcased some bright spots on the field. Quarterback Alfonso Gonzales orchestrated a remarkable 70-yard run for a touchdown, while Josh Ivey contributed to the team’s score with a successful 26-yard field goal and an extra point following Gonzales’ touchdown.
With this loss, the Foxes wrapped up their season with an overall record of 8-4. This marked the second consecutive year that Caddo Mills faced elimination from the playoffs at the hands of Pleasant Grove, following their defeat in the area round. Notably, in 2020, the Foxes had triumphed over the Hawks with a 35-31 victory in the third round of the playoffs.
Pleasant Grove, now boasting an undefeated 12-0 record for the season, secures their spot in the third round. Their next challenge awaits as they advance to face the winner between Carthage and Van Alstyne.
