Parkview’s Elston and Robinson Shine in 27-20 Victory Over Melissa, Texas
Little Rock Parkview showcased resilience and talent in a thrilling 27-20 win over Melissa, Texas, on Saturday night at the Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer Football Classic, held at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. The Patriots, led by standout performances from Monterrio Elston and Omarion Robinson, overcame a tough Melissa squad to secure the win.
Elston was electric on the ground, carrying the ball 12 times for 162 yards. He broke free for two long touchdown runs, including a 68-yard score in the second quarter and a game-changing 61-yard sprint in the fourth. Meanwhile, Robinson made a pivotal defensive play, returning an interception 40 yards for a touchdown, giving Parkview a crucial lead in the second half.
Melissa fought hard, with quarterback Noah Schuback connecting twice with Jacob Nye for touchdown passes. Their second touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion, pulled Melissa within seven points, 27-20, with 9:36 left in the game.
Parkview’s defense came through in the clutch. After the Patriots turned the ball over on downs late in the game, Melissa drove deep into Parkview territory. However, linebacker Kevin Ellis delivered a key sack, forcing a fumble that Chris Edwards recovered to seal the victory.
The Patriots took an early 6-0 lead in the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run from Quentin Murphy. Melissa responded with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Schuback to Nye, tying the game at 6-6 just before halftime.
Parkview’s defense, particularly in the second half, was outstanding with Omarion Robinson’s interception return for a touchdown giving them a commanding 20-6 lead.
Melissa continued to fight, scoring on the first play of the fourth quarter to narrow the gap to 20-12. But Elston quickly responded with a dazzling 61-yard touchdown run on the very next possession, restoring Parkview’s cushion at 27-12.
Parkview finished with 362 total yards, demonstrating balance on both sides of the ball.
