Allen Defeats Cedar Hill 42-14 in Rivalry Showdown
On Friday night, the Cedar Hill Longhorns faced off against the Allen Eagles in a highly anticipated battle between two of Texas’ top teams. Unfortunately for Cedar Hill, the outcome followed a familiar pattern, as they fell 42-14 to Allen for their fourth consecutive loss against the Eagles.
The last time these two teams met was in 2021, when Allen secured a 35-16 win. This time around, both squads were coming off big victories. Cedar Hill had opened the season with a commanding 40-7 win over Midlothian, racking up 486 yards of total offense while allowing just 173. Meanwhile, Allen dominated Midland Legacy in a 61-0 playoff rematch, accumulating 532 yards and shutting down the Rebels.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Allen quarterback Brady Bricker connected with Donnell Gee Jr. for a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the game to take the lead. Both teams struggled to generate additional points throughout the first half until Cedar Hill’s Dayshun Reese rushed for a 5-yard touchdown with just 32 seconds left. However, the Longhorns missed the extra point, and Allen seemed poised to go into halftime with a narrow 7-6 lead.
But with just seconds left in the half, Bricker made a pivotal play, rushing for 40 yards to get Allen into striking distance. After a sack, he spiked the ball with one second remaining and then launched a 45-yard touchdown pass to Carter Harris as time expired, sending Allen into the locker room up 14-6.
Cedar Hill received the ball to start the second half but quickly turned it over, and Allen took full advantage. The Eagles capitalized on their first-half momentum, outscoring the Longhorns 28-8 in the second half. Running back Lyndon Spriggs was a standout, rushing for two touchdowns to help Allen pull away.
Despite the loss, Cedar Hill’s offense showed flashes of promise. Wide receiver Keylon Davis had an impressive performance, finishing with 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cedar Hill’s record drops to 1-1, while Allen improves to 2-0 with the victory. For Cedar Hill, the loss is a setback, but the team will look to bounce back as they continue their season.
