
In a dominating showcase of offensive prowess, Duncanville overwhelmed The Woodlands, securing a commanding 49-21 victory in the Class 6A Division I Region II clash at Memorial Stadium in Hutto.
Caden Durham bulldozed through defenses, amassing a staggering 297 yards on 26 carries, while junior quarterback Keelon Russell orchestrated the field, tallying 272 yards and three touchdowns. Duncanville’s offensive juggernaut totaled an impressive 607 yards throughout the game.
The scoring momentum for Duncanville ignited during their third possession, culminating in Ayson Theus’ 20-yard end-around touchdown.
Despite The Woodlands (9-4) briefly equalizing the score with 6:45 remaining in the first half courtesy of Mabrey Mettauer’s nine-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Bolender, Duncanville swiftly regained control. Russell’s 28-yard dash to the end zone and an eight-yard connection to Dakorien Moore extended their lead to 19-7. Durham’s successful conversion pushed the score to 21-7 just before halftime, capping off his impressive 225-yard, 16-carry first-half performance.
The third quarter saw both Durham and Russell add to their tally with touchdown runs, firmly solidifying Duncanville’s lead at 35-7.
Despite a sluggish start, The Woodlands managed a late-game surge, securing 14 points in the final quarter, described by some as ‘garbage points.’
With this commanding win, Duncanville (11-1) is now set to clash with Spring Westfield in the forthcoming state quarterfinals, poised for another thrilling matchup.
