
In a gripping area round battle, Clear Springs showed resilience against the formidable No. 2-ranked North Shore for more than two quarters. The game remained tightly contested with the score tied at 14-14 during halftime and even leveled at 21-21 well into the third quarter. However, North Shore’s dominance emerged in the latter stages, surging with 28 unanswered points to secure a 49-21 victory and advance to the third round of the UIL postseason.
D’Andre Hardeman was instrumental for the Mustangs, delivering three crucial rushing touchdowns, notably a game-changing 90-yard dash that widened the gap early in the final quarter.
Unfortunately for North Shore, junior quarterback Kaleb Bailey exited the game due to an apparent injury in the third quarter, prompting sophomore Kaleb Maryland to step in. Maryland showcased composure, orchestrating the go-ahead touchdown with a two-yard keeper and smoothly steering the offense for the remainder of the contest.
Up next for North Shore is a compelling showdown against Cy-Fair in the regional semifinal round of the UIL 6A D1 playoffs. Cy-Fair’s triumph over Katy, securing a 28-21 win in the area round, sets the stage for an exciting clash against the Mustangs in the next phase of the playoffs.
