Vandegrift Overpowers Steele to Advance in Playoffs
The Steele Knights saw their impressive eight-game winning streak snapped on Friday, falling 49-35 to the Vandegrift Vipers in a high-stakes playoff showdown. The loss marked the end of Steele’s season, while Vandegrift continued their dominant run.
Vandegrift’s success was powered by standout performances from Brendan Fournier and Brock Chilton. Fournier rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, his best rushing performance since November 2023. Chilton added to the offensive firepower with 123 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Steele’s defeat dropped their record to 11-2, capping a strong season despite the tough ending. Meanwhile, Vandegrift extended their winning streak to 11 games, improving their record to 12-1 and cementing their status as playoff contenders.
With their season over, Steele turns its focus to the future. Vandegrift, however, will press on, taking on Harlan this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Harlan, also riding a 10-game winning streak, promises to bring a fierce challenge, setting the stage for an exciting playoff clash.
