Lake Travis Rolls Past Akins, Extends Perfect Season
AUSTIN — The Lake Travis Cavaliers continued their dominant run Friday night, steamrolling the Akins Eagles in a 48-0 shutout that was never in doubt. With the win, the Cavs moved to 9-0 on the year, tightening their grip on the top spot in District 26-6A.
From the opening kickoff, Lake Travis set the tone with a relentless ground attack. Running back Jonathan Godinez sliced through the Akins defense for 123 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries, while Wesley Glass added 58 yards and another score to round out a punishing backfield effort.
The Cavaliers were unstoppable on the ground, piling up 274 rushing yards, their highest total since November of last season. Every drive seemed to end the same way — in the end zone. By halftime, Lake Travis had built a commanding lead, and by the end of the third quarter, the scoreboard read 42-0.
Akins struggled to find any rhythm offensively, falling to 4-5 after suffering its third consecutive road loss. The Eagles managed a few bright moments early but couldn’t sustain drives against the Cavaliers’ disciplined defense.
Lake Travis now turns its attention to a rivalry clash with Austin High on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., as the Cavaliers look to cap an undefeated regular season. Akins will try to bounce back that same night when it hosts Del Valle, aiming to stay alive in the playoff hunt.
Right now, though, Lake Travis looks every bit like a contender built for a deep postseason run.
