Duncanville Shuts Down Cedar Hill in Dominant Defensive Showcase
CEDAR HILL — The Duncanville Panthers reminded everyone why they remain one of Texas’ elite programs, blanking the Cedar Hill Longhorns 29-0 on Thursday night. The victory marked Duncanville’s sixth straight win and yet another game where their defense completely suffocated an opponent.
Defense Sets the Tone Early
From the opening drive, Duncanville’s defense looked dialed in. The Panthers swarmed to the football, controlled the line of scrimmage, and made Cedar Hill’s offense look out of sync all evening. The Longhorns managed only 1.6 yards per carry, unable to find daylight against a front seven that has allowed just 10 points per game during this six-game stretch.
Linebacker Jaylyn Manning anchored the effort, flying to the ball and setting the tone with his physicality. Every time Cedar Hill tried to establish the run, Duncanville shut the door.
Singleton Sparks the Offense
On the offensive side, running back Robert Singleton provided the punch. He rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns, finishing off several sustained drives with powerful runs between the tackles. Singleton’s patience and burst helped the Panthers control the tempo, wearing down the Longhorn defense over four quarters.
A Familiar Formula for Success
For Duncanville, this was more of the same. The Panthers (7-1) have now won six games by at least 20 points, thanks to a balanced attack and a defense that rarely gives opponents a chance to breathe. Head coach Reginald Samples’ group continues to look sharp as the postseason looms.
Cedar Hill, meanwhile, dropped to 6-4 after losing three of its last four games. Despite moments of promise, the Longhorns could not sustain drives against one of the stingiest defenses in the state.
What’s Next
Duncanville will carry its momentum into a Thursday matchup against Temple, a team sitting much lower in the Texas rankings and looking for an upset. Cedar Hill will try to regroup as it takes on Harker Heights on the same night.
If Duncanville’s defense keeps playing at this level, the road to a state title may once again run straight through the Panthers.
