DeSoto Dominates Rival Cedar Hill in Lopsided District Battle
DESOTO The Battle of Belt Line was all Eagles on Thursday night. Behind a balanced aerial assault and a relentless defense, DeSoto overwhelmed Cedar Hill in a 46-9 rout that left little doubt about which squad currently rules southern Dallas County.
It was déjà vu for the Longhorns, who also fell to DeSoto in their 2024 matchup and this one unraveled much the same way. By the end of the third quarter, Cedar Hill trailed big and couldn’t mount any fourth-quarter spark against a surging DeSoto defense.
Eagles Take Flight Early and Often
Senior quarterback Legend Howell was locked in from the opening drive, carving up the Longhorns’ secondary with pinpoint accuracy. Howell finished the night completing 72% of his passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns, once again proving to be the pulse of DeSoto’s offense.
His favorite target, Ethan Feaster, made the highlight reel with 111 yards and a score, while special teams standout Antron Edmundson electrified the home crowd with a kickoff return touchdown that punctuated the dominant performance.
When Howell’s passing rhythm clicks, so does DeSoto the Eagles have now gone 4-1 this season when his passer rating tops 100.
Cedar Hill’s Struggles Continue
For Cedar Hill, it was another rough night on both sides of the ball. The Longhorns (5-3) dropped their second straight and never found a consistent offensive groove after falling behind early.
Meanwhile, DeSoto (5-3) extended its home win streak to five, dating back to last season and with the offense firing on all cylinders, the defending state champs look like they’re rounding back into playoff form.
