Aledo’s dominance in the Class 5A Division I championship game was undeniable as quarterback Hauss Hejny led the charge, guiding his team to a resounding 52-14 victory over College Station. The win marked Aledo’s 11th state championship, establishing a new record in the program’s illustrious history.
Hejny’s exceptional performance earned him the title of Offensive Player of the Game. His dual-threat capability was on full display as he orchestrated Aledo’s offense, completing 11 of 15 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. He further bolstered his impact by rushing for an impressive 139 yards and adding two more scores on just nine carries.
The game was firmly in Aledo’s control from the start, as they surged ahead to claim the first 52 points. College Station struggled to make headway against Aledo’s defense, only managing to get on the scoreboard at the 1:54 mark of the fourth quarter. The Cougars faced a tough challenge throughout the game, mustering only 121 yards by the end of the third quarter. Despite two late scoring drives that added to their tally, it only made their overall performance seem more respectable in the face of Aledo’s dominance.
