In a hard-fought battle, Duncanville clinched their first state championship victory since 1998, securing a memorable win against North Shore with a pivotal 9-yard touchdown run by Caden Durham in the third quarter—the decisive score that sealed their triumph.
The game kicked off with an exhilarating first half, witnessing a flurry of action as both teams combined for an impressive 42 points. The intense back-and-forth resulted in a tied game at 21 points apiece. However, Duncanville’s defense stepped up significantly in the second half, completely shutting down the Mustangs’ offense. Durham’s crucial touchdown, scored with just 3:41 remaining in the third quarter, proved to be the lone score in the latter part of the game, ultimately propelling Duncanville to victory.
Durham emerged as a standout performer, showcasing his resilience with a hard-earned 105 yards on 25 carries, contributing three touchdowns to the team’s success. Keelon Russell added to Duncanville’s offensive prowess, racking up an impressive 103 yards on eight carries and notching a touchdown of his own.
On the opposing side, North Shore was led by David Amador, who put up a valiant effort with 115 rushing yards, securing two touchdowns, and also contributing through the air with another touchdown pass.
This victory held special significance for Duncanville, marking their first win against North Shore in four meetings, avenging the Mustangs’ title victory in 2021.
