North Crowley remained focused and undefeated on Friday night, securing a dominant 49-28 win over the Guyer Wildcats at Crowley ISD Stadium. The Panthers, overcame an early challenge from Guyer with a huge second quarter to take control of the game and enter halftime with a commanding 35-7 lead.
The game was competitive early on, with Guyer scoring a touchdown on its opening drive and the teams tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. However, North Crowley’s aggressive playcalling, led by standout quarterback Chris Jimerson Jr., quickly turned the tide. Jimerson, was pivotal in converting multiple fourth-down situations, including two long touchdown passes. He connected with Jaiden Brooks for a 32-yard score and later found wide receiver Quentin Gibson for a 50-yard touchdown.
Gibson, who had already impressed with 256 yards and seven touchdowns in the first two games, delivered another stellar performance, racking up 253 yards and four touchdowns on just seven receptions.
While Gibson was a major factor, North Crowley’s offense saw contributions from several other players. Running back Cornelius Warren added 75 yards and a touchdown, while Jimerson finished the night with 360 passing yards and five touchdowns. The Panthers’ defense also stepped up, creating opportunities for the offense. Early in the second quarter, Ja’Brelle Asberry forced a fumble that was recovered by Xavier Coleman. On the very next play, Jimerson capitalized with a 38-yard trick-play touchdown to Jermaine Cooper.
Despite the loss, Guyer had standout moments, especially from wide receiver Mason White, who hauled in three long touchdown receptions of 46, 31, and 24 yards. Quarterback Kevin Sperry, an Oklahoma commit, threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns, with Daniel Tong adding a 4-yard score. However, North Crowley’s defense largely kept Guyer’s offense in check.
North Crowley’s victory marked their seventh straight home win dating back to last season, pushing their record to 3-0. For Guyer, the loss snapped a three-game road winning streak.
The Panthers’ strong start has electrified the community, with head coach Ray Gates praising the atmosphere at the stadium and the unwavering fan support. As North Crowley continues its undefeated run, the team’s balance of offensive firepower and defensive resilience has cemented their status as one of the top teams in the state.
