Guyer Runs Wild, Crushes Marcus 52-21 for Fourth Straight Win
The Guyer Wildcats continued their midseason surge on Thursday night, steamrolling the Marcus Marauders 52-21 to notch their fourth straight victory and move to 5-2 on the season. For a team that’s made blowouts routine, this was business as usual another win by 20-plus points, their fourth such margin this year.
Leading the charge once again was star running back Kaedyn Cobbs, who turned the field into his personal highlight reel. Cobbs racked up a jaw-dropping 238 rushing yards and three touchdowns, averaging an incredible 9.9 yards per carry. His explosive speed was on full display with a 66-yard sprint that left defenders in the dust.
But Cobbs wasn’t alone in powering Guyer’s ground assault. The Wildcats’ run game was a force all night, piling up 357 rushing yards their highest total since November 2024. Every carry seemed to chip away at Marcus’ defense until there was nothing left to stop the bleeding.
Defensively, Guyer was just as fierce. The Wildcats’ front line disrupted the Marauders from start to finish, logging 4.5 sacks with contributions across the board. Khyren Haywood notched half a sack, while four other players each grabbed one. The defensive highlight came when Caleb Fowler scooped up a fumble and rumbled into the end zone, igniting the sideline and sealing the rout.
For Marcus (3-3), it was another tough outing in what’s become a rocky stretch three losses in their last four games. Quarterback Colton Nussmeier still managed to shine despite the scoreline, throwing for 194 yards and a touchdown on just 17 attempts. He continues to be a bellwether for the Marauders’ success Marcus is 2-1 when his passer rating clears 110, but just 1-2 when it doesn’t. Kade McKnight chipped in with two scores to keep the offense afloat.
Up next, Guyer looks to keep the train rolling when they take on Little Elm at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24, facing a defense that’s giving up nearly 35 points per game. Expect fireworks if the Wildcats’ rushing attack stays hot. Meanwhile, Marcus will aim to regroup for a rivalry showdown against Flower Mound, also on the 24th at 7 p.m.
Right now, Guyer is clicking on all cylinders and nobody wants to be in their way.
