Waxahachie Flexes, Hands Forney First Loss of Season
FORNEY — What was a nail-biter the last time these two clashed turned into a statement win this time around. Waxahachie rolled into town Friday night and left with a convincing 35-14 victory over Forney, snapping the Jackrabbits’ perfect start to the season.
The Indians (2-0) struck early, struck often, and never let Forney find its rhythm.
Brown Torches Secondary
Waxahachie’s offensive fireworks were led by Kohen Brown, who put on yet another clinic. The junior wideout hauled in 141 yards and two touchdowns, marking his third straight game with over 114 receiving yards dating back to last year.
Running mate Jordan Smith added two scores of his own, tallying 89 total yards and helping the Indians build a cushion they never gave back.
Forney’s Lone Bright Spot
The Jackrabbits (2-1) had their moments, but couldn’t match Waxahachie’s firepower. Quarterback Nelson Peterson Jr. threw for 176 yards and one touchdown, keeping Forney within reach in the first half before the Indians’ defense slammed the door.
By the Numbers
Waxahachie’s offense has been red-hot out of the gate, averaging nearly 40 points per game through two contests. The win also marked their second straight over Forney after a narrow victory in last year’s matchup.
