DeSoto Dominates Lancaster to Close Regular Season Strong
DESOTO — The DeSoto Eagles capped off their regular season in dominant fashion Thursday night, rolling past the Lancaster Tigers 53-14 to extend their home winning streak to seven games. The Eagles improved to 7-3 with another statement victory, their seventh win this year by more than three touchdowns.
Baker Steals the Spotlight
Senior running back Sarod Baker delivered one of the most electric performances in Texas high school football this week, slicing through Lancaster’s defense for 251 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Every time Baker touched the ball, the Tigers braced for impact — his 15.7 yards per carry told the story of a back running with both power and purpose.
While Baker owned the ground game, quarterback Legend Howell kept things balanced through the air. The senior completed 72 percent of his passes, throwing for 151 yards and a touchdown, efficiently managing the offense and keeping Lancaster off balance. His favorite target, Ethan Feaster, hauled in 92 receiving yards, flashing the speed and hands that have made him one of DeSoto’s most dangerous playmakers.
Lancaster Struggles to Keep Pace
The Tigers entered the game hoping to build momentum before the postseason but instead ran into a buzzsaw. Despite the loss, John Ewing II and Damarrion Goodson provided bright spots for Lancaster. Ewing tallied 64 total yards, while Goodson threw for 146 yards and one touchdown, showing poise even as DeSoto’s defensive front brought relentless pressure.
The defeat marked Lancaster’s third loss in four games, dropping their record to 4-6 after a promising midseason stretch.
A Familiar Display of Power
For DeSoto, this was business as usual. The Eagles dominated both sides of the ball, piling up explosive plays while stifling Lancaster’s offense when it mattered. With yet another convincing win, DeSoto closed the regular season as one of the most balanced and battle-tested teams in the state.
Both squads now await their postseason fates, with playoff matchups still to be determined — but if Thursday’s performance was any indication, DeSoto looks ready to make a deep run.
