Legacy Stumbles in Louisiana Shootout, Falls to St. Augustine
HOUSTON – One week after dropping 68 points of their own, the Legacy School of Sport Sciences Titans found themselves on the wrong side of a track meet Saturday night. St. Augustine’s Purple Knights lit up the scoreboard and handed Legacy a 68-40 defeat, halting the Titans’ momentum in emphatic fashion.
High-Octane Battle
Both teams came out firing, trading scores early before St. Augustine’s speed and size started to take over. The Purple Knights – ranked No. 7 in Louisiana – put their offensive firepower on full display, turning nearly every possession into points.
Legacy kept swinging, piling up 40 points of their own, but couldn’t keep pace with the Knights’ relentless attack. The loss snapped the Titans’ impressive five-game road winning streak dating back to last season.
Where They Stand
The result drops Legacy to 2-2 on the season, while St. Augustine improves to 3-0 and looks every bit like one of Louisiana’s top contenders.
What’s Next
Legacy won’t have much time to dwell on the loss – they hit the road again Friday night to face Franklin in what should be a key test. St. Augustine, meanwhile, turns its attention to a heavyweight showdown with Warren Easton on Saturday, a matchup that could light up the scoreboard with both teams averaging well over 30 points a game.
