Guyer Crushes Lewisville in Top-10 Showdown
DENTON — In a matchup loaded with talent and playoff implications, Denton Guyer left no doubt about where it stands among the state’s elite. The Wildcats dominated Lewisville from start to finish Friday night, rolling to a 47-21 victory in front of a packed home crowd.
It marked yet another statement win for Guyer, which has now won six games by 20 points or more this season.
Morgan Leads Explosive Guyer Offense
Quarterback Carter Morgan delivered the best game of his young career, showing off poise and precision against a physical Lewisville defense. Morgan threw for 258 yards and one touchdown while adding a rushing score, carving up the secondary with sharp timing and strong command of the offense. His 258 passing yards set a new career-high.
The Wildcats mixed in plenty of balance, with Zane Rowe contributing both offensively and defensively. Rowe added a touchdown on offense before making one of the night’s biggest defensive plays — a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown that sent the home sideline into a frenzy.
Defense Sets the Tone
While Guyer’s offense hummed, the defense might have been even more impressive. The Wildcats overwhelmed Lewisville’s offensive front, recording six sacks from six different players. Their constant pressure kept the Farmers off balance all night and snuffed out any chance at a comeback.
Lewisville Finds a Bright Spot
Despite the lopsided score, Derrick “DJ” Martin III gave Lewisville fans something to cheer about. The standout back ripped off a 74-yard touchdown run, finishing with 91 rushing yards and one score on only six carries. His burst provided one of the few highlights for the Farmers, who dropped to 7-2 after the loss.
Looking Ahead
The win lifted Guyer to 7-2 and extended its home winning streak to four games. The Wildcats’ offense has been nearly unstoppable during that stretch, averaging 48 points per contest.
Next week, Guyer will turn its attention to a district clash with Braswell on Thursday at 7 p.m. Lewisville will try to bounce back against Little Elm at the same time.
With the playoffs fast approaching, Guyer looks like a team built for a deep postseason run — fast, balanced, and ruthless on both sides of the ball.
