North Forney Outlasts Longview in Wild 56-55 Shootout
FORNEY — What was supposed to be another routine meeting between Longview and North Forney turned into one of the wildest games of the season. A year after the Lobos blanked the Falcons 21-0, the two traded haymakers for four quarters on Friday night before North Forney escaped with a 56-55 thriller.
Longview built a 21-point cushion in the second quarter, but momentum flipped fast as the Falcons stormed back behind a record-setting night from Legend Bey. The dual-threat quarterback shredded the defense for 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns, averaging an incredible 13.5 yards per carry, while also throwing for 127 yards and a score. Running mate Andikan Asuquo powered through the defense for 132 yards and a touchdown, helping the Falcons complete the comeback.
For Longview, the loss was tough to swallow given the offensive fireworks from Johnny Hamilton and Jaden Hurndon. Hamilton was nearly flawless, throwing for 373 yards and five touchdowns on a 75 percent completion rate, while Hurndon hauled in 194 yards and three scores, including a 65-yard bomb that electrified the crowd. Mason Washington added two more touchdowns as the Lobos kept the scoreboard busy all night.
The setback dropped Longview to 5-4, while North Forney improved to 8-1, earning their second straight victory.
Both teams have already moved on from the shootout. Longview bounced back with a 52-24 win over Royse City, and North Forney stayed red-hot, taking down Rockwall 63-39 in their follow-up contest.
