Argyle opened the postseason looking every bit like a team built for a long November run. Under cold lights on Friday night, the Eagles ripped through Lovejoy and never looked back, pitching a 56 to 0 shutout that announced their playoff arrival with authority.
Gasperson Takes Over the Night
Quarterback Maguire Gasperson delivered one of the finest outings of his career. He carved up the Leopards for 308 yards through the air, connected on four touchdown passes, and completed more than eighty percent of his throws. He even added a rushing score to complete his five-touchdown night. His precision and control produced a new personal best in passer rating.
Julian Caldwell gave him a highlight reel target, exploding for 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns while consistently torching the secondary.
Defense Builds the Wall
Argyle’s front seven played with an edge that Lovejoy never solved. The Eagles shut down the run from the opening snap, holding the Leopards to only three yards per carry and controlling the trenches for four straight quarters. Grayson Peschel set the tone with a relentless motor, stacking up 12 tackles, four of them behind the line, and adding a sack for good measure.
Nathaniel Bruce and Liam Ladd also broke through for sacks, helping Argyle keep the Lovejoy offense pinned in place all night.
Ten Straight and Rolling
Friday’s victory pushed Argyle to 10 and 1 and stretched its winning streak to ten games. The Eagles have been consistent, balanced, and punishing on both sides of the ball, and their latest performance looked like more of the same.
Lovejoy, now 6 and 5, ends its season after running into a buzzsaw that showed no signs of slowing down.
Argyle marches on, looking dangerous as the playoff bracket tightens and the stakes rise.
