North Crowley Crushes Odessa Permian in Area Round Blowout
The North Crowley Panthers continued their undefeated 2024 season in emphatic fashion, dismantling the Odessa Permian Panthers 72-14 in the area round of the Texas high school football playoffs Friday night. The decisive victory showcased North Crowley’s potent offense and impenetrable defense as they punched their ticket to the regional semifinals.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
From the opening whistle, North Crowley established their dominance. Quarterback Chris Jimerson opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Gibson, followed moments later by a pick-six from Elijajuan Houston to put North Crowley up 14-0 just two minutes into the game. Jimerson and Gibson connected again on an 80-yard touchdown pass, and SMU commit Daniel Bray added an eight-yard rushing touchdown to close the first quarter with a commanding 28-0 lead.
Relentless Offense and Stifling Defense
North Crowley continued to pour it on in the second quarter. Jimerson tossed two more touchdown passes—one to Kevin Moore and another to Gibson—before UNLV commit Cornelius Warren III capped the half with a 25-yard rushing touchdown. By halftime, North Crowley led 49-0, with Jimerson having thrown for 232 yards and four touchdowns, and Gibson amassing 144 yards and three scores on five receptions.
The second half brought more of the same, as Jimerson and Gibson connected for their fourth touchdown, extending the lead to 56-0. The defense added to the tally with a safety, and North Crowley pushed the score to 65-0 by the end of the third quarter.
Odessa Permian’s Late Push
Permian found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, breaking through North Crowley’s defense with a 23-yard touchdown run by Gavin Black and an 80-yard rushing score by John Uranga. However, the damage had long been done, and North Crowley’s offensive juggernaut remained unstoppable.
