Southlake Carroll Stays Perfect, Blasts Northwest 57-7
The Southlake Carroll Dragons showed no mercy Friday night, rolling to a dominant 57-7 victory over the Northwest Texans to remain unbeaten on the season. By the end of the third quarter, the outcome was already sealed, allowing the Dragons to coast through the final frame and enjoy another statement win.
Once again, the Dragons’ senior stars set the tone. Quarterback Angelo Renda was in command from start to finish, slicing through the defense with 321 passing yards and two touchdowns while completing an efficient 78.9% of his throws. It marked Renda’s third consecutive game surpassing 305 yards through the air, continuing his red-hot stretch. His go-to target, Brock Boyd, led the receiving corps with 104 yards and a score, keeping their chemistry alive and thriving.
Meanwhile, Davis Penn turned in a clinic on the ground, needing just nine carries to rack up 97 yards and three touchdowns. Behind him, Southlake Carroll’s rushing attack piled up 222 yards total, marking the third straight game the Dragons have improved their production on the ground.
The defense matched the offense’s dominance. Crawford Taylor powered the front line with two sacks, while the unit collectively brought down the Texans’ quarterback four times. Marcus Brouse added a defensive highlight of his own snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
With the win, Southlake Carroll moves to 8-0, solidifying their place among Texas high school football’s elite. The Texans, meanwhile, slipped to 2-5, dropping four of their last five contests.
Up next, the Dragons gear up for a Friday night matchup with Bell at 7:00 p.m., where they’ll look to exploit a Blue Raiders defense allowing over 26 points per game. Northwest will try to regroup when they host Byron Nelson, also at 7:00 p.m.
Another week, another clinic the Dragons are breathing fire, and the rest of the district can feel the heat.
