Allen entered the postseason with plenty of hype, and on Friday night the Eagles showed exactly why. They overwhelmed Permian from the opening series and never eased off the throttle, rolling to a commanding 56 to 13 victory in a one sided regional showdown. It was yet another lopsided win for a program that has made these margins feel routine all fall.
The ground game powered the Eagles throughout the night, and no one hit harder than Lyndon Spriggs. The junior tailback carved up the Panthers for 134 rushing yards and three scores on just fourteen carries, marking the most touchdowns he has produced in a single game. Josyah Johnson added plenty of fireworks of his own with eighty receiving yards and two trips to the end zone.
Permian’s season long identity has been built on its rushing attack, and Gavin Black did everything he could to keep that spark alive. He piled up 128 yards at seven and a half yards per carry, including a burst up the middle that ripped through the defense for fifty three yards. Even with his effort, the Panthers could not match Allen’s relentless pace.
The Eagles boosted their record to a spotless 13 and 0, continuing a season in which they have averaged just short of fifty points per outing. Permian, whose own eleven game win streak had stretched back to early September, saw its tremendous run halted at 11 and 2.
Allen now turns its attention to North Crowley for a Friday night clash that promises another high stakes playoff test.
