The Lovejoy Leopards continued their dominant run in Texas high school football, securing their fifth straight win with a decisive 48-7 victory over the Frisco Emerson Mavericks on Friday night. The win extended their impressive streak, where they’ve outscored opponents by an average of 38.3 points, solidifying their place as one of the top teams in District 5-5A Division II.
Coming into the game, Lovejoy was ranked 43rd in MaxPreps’ Texas football rankings, while Emerson held the 144th spot. The disparity in rankings was reflected on the field as the Leopards controlled the game from start to finish. Lovejoy opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 7-0 lead, then continued to stifle Emerson’s offense, forcing multiple turnovers and three-and-outs throughout the game.
By halftime, the Leopards had extended their lead to 24-0, thanks to two more touchdowns and a field goal. Lovejoy’s relentless attack carried over into the second half, where they added another two touchdowns and a field goal, making it 41-0 by the end of the third quarter. Although Emerson finally broke through with a touchdown in the fourth quarter, it was far too late to change the outcome, and Lovejoy cruised to a 48-7 victory.
Lovejoy’s success was driven by standout performances from Ben Adams and quarterback Jacob Richard Janecek. Adams contributed 158 total yards and two touchdowns, while Janecek rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns, guiding the offense with precision. This game marked Lovejoy’s third consecutive win at home, boosting their overall record to 5-2, while Emerson dropped to 5-3 after their second straight loss.
This win marks another strong performance for Lovejoy, who entered the game fresh off a 70-0 blowout of Independence. Coach Todd Dodge praised his team’s balanced effort, calling it their best game of the season so far. With both offense and defense clicking, Lovejoy now sits at the top of the district standings with a perfect 5-0 record. Their defense has also been exceptional, allowing just one touchdown in their last two games, further highlighting their dominance.
