Port Arthur Memorial Survives Henderson’s Heroics in 53-49 Shootout
SPRING — Friday night turned into a track meet at Legacy School of Sport Sciences, and the scoreboard nearly ran out of space. When the dust finally settled, Port Arthur Memorial escaped with a 53-49 thriller, surviving one of the most explosive quarterback performances you’ll see all year.
Keisean Henderson Lights It Up
Legacy’s five-star quarterback Keisean Henderson was nothing short of sensational. The Houston commit carved up the Titans’ defense for 653 total yards and six touchdowns, putting on a highlight-reel performance that had scouts and fans buzzing.
Henderson completed 30 of 38 passes for 537 yards and five scores, showing off NFL-caliber touch on deep shots, then used his legs to gash the defense for 116 yards and a rushing touchdown on just six carries. Four of those passing touchdowns went to Texas A&M commit Mike Brown, who hauled in 11 catches for 216 yards in a monster night of his own.
Titans Just Keep Winning
But Henderson’s heroics weren’t enough to stop Port Arthur Memorial, who stayed perfect on the year at 2-0 and extended their road win streak to four straight dating back to last season.
The Titans’ offense continued its blistering pace, now averaging more than 33 points per game this season, and proved once again they can win shootouts as well as defensive grinds.
Scouts Taking Notice
Recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger (TexAgs) was on-site and shared clips that immediately went viral — including Henderson’s jaw-dropping one-legged touchdown strike and a Houdini-like scramble that turned into a house call.
What’s Next
Port Arthur Memorial returns home looking to stay unbeaten, while Legacy — now 1-1 — will try to regroup after pushing one of the state’s top teams to the brink.
