Pearland Stays Perfect, Gets Payback on Shadow Creek
PEARLAND For nearly two seasons, the Oilers have turned The Rig into a fortress and Friday night, that streak rolled on. Pearland powered past Shadow Creek, 21-14, extending its home winning streak to nine straight and staying undefeated at 9-0.
The win carried some extra emotion. Last fall, Shadow Creek handed Pearland a 41-28 defeat. This time, the Oilers flipped the script and did it with physicality and poise.
Champion Leads the Charge
If the Oilers needed a spark, Ja’Maurey Champion was the match. The senior tailback carved up the Sharks’ defense for 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns, once again proving why he’s one of the area’s most electric playmakers.
Behind Champion, the Pearland ground attack never slowed down. The Oilers gashed Shadow Creek for 252 rushing yards, marking their sixth straight game topping 220 on the ground. Every snap looked like a statement power, tempo, and patience setting the tone from start to finish.
Defense Delivers and Revenge Secured
Pearland’s defense matched that energy, bottling up a typically high-powered Shadow Creek offense and forcing the Sharks into their lowest scoring outing of the season. A late fourth-quarter stand sealed it, preserving the win and some long-awaited redemption.
Addai Shines in Defeat
Even in defeat, Shadow Creek had a bright spot in sophomore receiver Jaylen Addai, who exploded for 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns, setting a new season high. His performance gave the Sharks a fighting chance deep into the fourth quarter before the Oilers slammed the door.
The loss snapped Shadow Creek’s seven-game road winning streak and dropped them to 5-3 on the year.
