Barbers Hill stepped into the postseason looking every bit like a team ready for November pressure, and Saturday’s thriller proved it. The Eagles survived a tense finish against Weiss, edging the Wolves 34 to 31 in a game that swung back and forth until the final whistle. The win pushed Barbers Hill’s streak to six straight and kept their playoff run alive.
The Eagles turned to quarterback Brady Barrier to steady the ship, and he delivered in every phase. Barrier threw for 238 yards and a touchdown, added 33 more on the ground, and provided the night’s defining moment with a booming 45 yard kick that ultimately stood as the game winner. Tripp Davis helped fuel the air attack, hauling in 85 of Barrier’s yards.
On defense, Barbers Hill found ways to make life difficult for Weiss quarterback Jaxon Schad. Four different Eagles broke through for sacks, and late in the game Colby Morgan jumped a route and raced in for a momentum shifting pick six.
Even in defeat, Weiss found a bright spot in rising sophomore Noah McPeak. The young defender turned heads with a forced fumble and a game high 14 tackles, showing he will be a problem for offenses in the years ahead.
Barbers Hill now sits at 10 and 3 and moves on to a tough regional test. Up next is Port Arthur Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, where the Eagles will face a Titans defense that has allowed just 13.8 points per contest. It will take another complete effort if Barbers Hill hopes to keep the postseason magic going.
