Willis walked into Saturday’s playoff showdown staring at a massive rankings gap, but they walked out with one of the weekend’s biggest shocks. The Wildkats outlasted Forney in a 38 to 32 thriller, toppling a Jackrabbits squad that entered the postseason as one of the state’s highest regarded teams.
The upset belonged largely to the right arm of Lincoln Frazier, who delivered a performance that will sit in Willis lore for a long time. Frazier carved up the field for a staggering 481 passing yards and four touchdowns, attacking every corner of the secondary and setting a new personal best in the process. When he needed a chain-moving play, he often looked toward Jaivion Martin, who hauled in key catches on his way to 81 yards.
Willis’ surge continues to build. The victory marked their seventh straight and elevated the Wildkats to 11 and 2, a run fueled by an offense that has grown sharper each week. Forney, meanwhile, saw its seven game roll come to a halt, dropping to 10 and 3 after a season that had been defined by consistency.
