Southlake Carroll opened the postseason with a thunderclap, overwhelming San Angelo Central in a 72 to 7 rout that showed exactly why the Dragons are viewed as one of the most dangerous teams in Texas. The Bobcats entered with momentum, but Friday night brought their toughest outing of the season and their lowest point total to date.
Renda Rolls Yet Again
Quarterback Angelo Renda turned in another staggering performance at the controls of the Dragons’ offense. He sliced through the Bobcats’ secondary for 366 yards and five touchdown passes while completing more than eighty percent of his throws. When he wasn’t carving defenses through the air, he was hurting them on the ground, piling up 91 rushing yards on only eight attempts. It was his best rushing night since last December and one more reminder that Southlake Carroll’s attack stretches defenses in every direction.
Receiver Brock Boyd kept the fireworks going, finding the end zone twice as part of a relentless offensive surge that never slowed.
Dragons Stay Perfect
The loss snapped San Angelo Central’s four game streak and nudged their season to seven and five. For Southlake Carroll, the win lifted them to a pristine twelve and zero and continued a season long pattern of overwhelming opponents early and often.
Next Step for the Dragons
Southlake Carroll now turns its attention to a showdown with Prosper at seven o’clock on Friday. With the Dragons playing their best football of the year, the stage is set for another explosive postseason chapter.
