Guyer Torches Braswell 51-7 Behind Four Morgan TD Passes
Nine possessions. Nine scoring drives. Guyer never gave Braswell a chance to breathe.
The No. 10 Wildcats steamrolled their Denton ISD rival 51-7 Friday at Bill Carrico Athletic Complex, taking a 31-7 lead into the half and coasting from there. It was the Bengals’ first loss of the season, ending a program-best 4-0 start.
Carter Morgan ran the show. The junior quarterback went 21 of 25 for 290 yards and four touchdowns, then added a 1-yard scoring run of his own on the opening drive of the second half. Credit his protection too. The line kept him clean even while banged up.
The weapons were everywhere. Graham Nixon led the way with 88 yards and a score on three catches. Tristan Shelton hauled in eight passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns. DJ Reese added five grabs for 54 yards, and Jayden Thomas chipped in 33. Zane Rowe, a senior Oregon commit who mostly plays defensive end, even snagged a 13-yard touchdown.
Guyer got rolling early. The defense forced a turnover on downs on Braswell’s first possession, then Kash Villegas gave the Wildcats the lead for good with a 9-yard run. Andrew Johnson drilled three field goals along the way.
Braswell’s only points came as the first half expired, a 15-yard Khalyl Moore strike to Chris Cooks. Chris Lark led the Bengals with 62 yards on 12 carries. Bam Moss and Marvin Nash each came up with an interception for the Guyer defense.
This rivalry has been one-sided. Guyer is now 7-0 all-time against Braswell, winning every game by 21 or more.
Guyer improves to 4-1 and 2-0 in District 5-6A and visits No. 12 Lewisville on Friday, October 9. Braswell falls to 4-1 and 1-1 and hosts Little Elm that same night.
