Longview opened the postseason with the kind of fireworks show few teams can withstand. The Lobos overwhelmed Rowlett from start to finish on Friday night, storming their way to a 63 to 7 victory that felt decided long before halftime. It marked yet another lopsided result for a Longview squad that has made blowouts look routine all season.
Washington Torches the Eagles
If Rowlett needed proof that Longview’s ground game travels in November, Mason Washington delivered it. The senior back exploded for 285 rushing yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. His night included a breathtaking 87 yard sprint that turned the stadium into a roar and broke the game wide open.
Jaden Hurndon added his own highlight, hauling in 74 receiving yards and a touchdown as Longview’s offense piled up chunk plays at will.
Lobos Dominate the Trenches
The Lobos controlled the line throughout the night and rumbled their way to 396 rushing yards, their most in nearly a full year. Every drive seemed to lean on the Rowlett defense a little harder until the Eagles could no longer hold up.
Longview’s defense was just as relentless. James Pierce and Jassiah Hill each came away with an interception, while Hill added four tackles. Bradley Williams gave the Eagles fits all evening with seven tackles, two of them behind the line, along with a forced fumble.
Rolling Into the Next Round
Friday’s win continued Longview’s late season surge. The Lobos have taken four of their last five and now sit at 7 and 4 with their offense averaging more than 50 points during that stretch. Rowlett drops to 6 and 5 after running into one of the state’s hottest teams.
