Longview Pulls Away Late, Routs North Forney 49-13
Homecoming night, district opener, and a rout that snuck up on everybody. Longview took down North Forney 49-13 at Lobo Stadium, turning a tight early game into a laugher by the final whistle.
The two teams traded blows early, tied 7-7 after the first quarter, before a muffed punt swung things Longview’s way. The Falcons botched a punt into their own end zone, and Longview scooped it up for an easy touchdown and a 14-7 edge.
North Forney wasn’t done fighting. The Falcons answered with a touchdown pass to cut it to 14-13, then recovered an onside kick to give themselves a real shot at flipping the game. Longview slammed that door shut fast. Von’Darryn Adams picked off a pass inside the Falcons’ own territory, and moments later Jaicaden Davis connected with Jaden Hurndon on a 46-yard touchdown with just seconds left in the half, pushing the lead back to 21-13. Adams added a second interception right before the break for good measure.
From there, it was all Longview. Davis took over in the third quarter, ripping off a 20-yard touchdown run and then punching in another from three yards out to make it 35-13. James Pierce added another Longview interception late in the third to keep the Falcons pinned down.
Davis kept the scoring going in the fourth, adding touchdown runs of four and 13 yards to put the finishing touches on the rout. All told, Longview outscored North Forney 35-0 after the Falcons briefly threatened to take control in the second quarter.
The Lobos improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in District 10-6A. North Forney falls to 0-3 and 0-1 in district. Longview stays on the road next, heading to Royse City for another district test Friday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m.
