Argyle Torches Highland Park 70-37 in New Stadium Showcase
The new Argyle ISD stadium got a proper christening. Argyle put on an offensive clinic Friday night, running away from Highland Park 70-37 in a game that was basically decided before halftime.
Quarterback Hayes Hackney and Texas Tech commit Julian Caldwell were a nightmare combination from the jump. Caldwell hauled in three touchdown catches in the first half alone, the highlight a jaw dropping 96-yard house call that pushed the Argyle lead to 14-0 early. By the break, the Eagles were already up 35-24 and showed zero signs of slowing down.
Highland Park didn’t just roll over. SMU commit Buck Randall, who recently passed Matthew Stafford as the program’s all-time leading passer, kept the Scots within striking distance. He connected on a big gain to Liam Thomas and found Caiden Reeves on a shovel pass touchdown to cut the deficit to 21-14. But a stuffed fourth-and-goal attempt swung all the momentum right back to Argyle, and the Eagles never let it go. Logan Rexroat punched in a rushing touchdown of his own to keep the scoreboard climbing.
Final score, 70-37. Against a Highland Park program with one of the richest traditions in the entire Dallas area, that kind of final margin says everything about how complete Argyle’s performance was on both sides of the football.
