DeSoto Turns Up the Heat, Outscores Willis in High-Powered Playoff Shootout
Postseason pressure did nothing to slow DeSoto on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles walked into a fast-paced offensive duel with Willis and walked out with a convincing 60 to 41 win, showcasing once again why their attack is one of the most feared in the state.
DeSoto didn’t just keep up with the scoring tempo — they controlled it from start to finish.
Baker Runs Wild, Howell Guides the Air Attack
The headline performance belonged to Sarod Baker, who delivered one of the most dominant rushing displays of the season. Every time he touched the ball, Willis felt the impact. Baker carved up the Wildkats for 381 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging nearly eleven yards each time he turned the corner. His combination of power and burst kept DeSoto in full command.
Quarterback Legend Howell provided the balance, completing over seventy percent of his throws for 147 yards and a touchdown. He connected often with Courtly’On Jackson, who paced the receivers with 59 yards and a score.
Together, the Eagles operated with a rhythm that Willis never fully disrupted.
Willis Fights Back Behind Frazier’s Arm and Legs
The final score won’t show the individual brilliance coming from the other sideline. Willis quarterback Lincoln Frazier refused to let the game drift away without a fight. He threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, then added 71 yards and another score on the ground. His poise kept the Wildkats within striking distance through much of the night.
Wideout Jaivion Martin also sparked the offense with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, providing the explosive plays Willis needed to stay alive in the shootout.
But DeSoto always had an answer.
Eagles Keep Rolling
With the win, DeSoto extends its streak to eight straight, improving to 11 and 3. Their offense continues to operate at a scorching pace, averaging more than fifty six points over that stretch.
Willis, now 11 and 3, sees a seven-game winning run snapped. Despite the loss, the Wildkats flashed plenty of firepower — just not enough to match a DeSoto squad firing at full strength.
DeSoto moves forward with momentum and an offense that looks capable of carrying them deep into December.
