Lovejoy Routs Community 70-7, Stays Perfect
Seventy points. Lovejoy didn’t just win Friday, it buried Community 70-7 to improve to 6-0. The gap in the MaxPreps rankings, No. 28 against No. 677, showed up on the scoreboard.
Luke Gahan did the heavy lifting on the ground, racking up 134 yards and three touchdowns on just 13 carries. Nixon Slaughter was just as sharp through the air, completing better than 83 percent of his passes for 209 yards and three scores. He has been on a tear lately, averaging 3.0 touchdown passes per game over his last six after just 0.3 in the seven before that. Hudson Parker chipped in 115 passing yards and two touchdowns of his own.
The Leopards have now won eight of their last nine dating back to last season.
Community came in fresh off a 35-point outing but could not keep up. Jeremy Jones did what he could, rushing for 86 yards and the Braves’ lone touchdown. They fall to 4-2 and are 1-2 since a three-game winning streak ended.
